About Mother Augusta

Mother Augusta took shape in Parma in 2013, not through a conventional band formation but first as a one-person project. The early material grew from nocturnal city streets, abandoned suburbs and a close engagement with obsession, trauma and loneliness. That urban darkness remained at the heart of the music when a full line-up formed after the self-produced EP The Burning Sun of Despair.

From Solitary Project to Live Band

The debut album Fragile arrived through Pest Productions in 2019 and gave Mother Augusta a sharper musical identity. Songs including Mom, In Myself and the title track became fixtures of the live set. The following years brought shows and festivals across Italy and Europe, with appearances alongside Nocturnal Depression, Forgotten Tomb, Ellende and Happy Days, as well as a short tour with Harakiri For The Sky.

Low Lights and the City Within

Low Lights followed through Black Blood Records in 2023. Its title describes more than a visual atmosphere: the band treats those dim lights as an image of outsiderhood, retreat and memories returning in moments of silence. Songs such as Hikikomori and Clochard Avenue turned that perspective into a live journey through isolation and the darker reaches of perception. The album cycle concluded at Berlin’s Walpurgisnacht festival while supporting Thy Light.

Labyrinths of Pain

Labyrinths of Pain opens Mother Augusta’s next chapter with Talheim Records in 2026. The six-track third full-length develops the band’s introspective language through more complex songwriting and a deliberately oppressive, decadent pace. Reflection, memory and suffering are approached through a more mature and cynical lens. The journey through the album’s titular labyrinth offers no simple exit; it leads towards another level beneath what is already known.

Mother Augusta bring black metal and depressive-rock atmosphere together in music shaped less by strict genre borders than by its setting: the city at night, its outer edges and the inner distance from society. “Deep, Dark, Silent” opens the path into the band’s third album. “Labyrinths of Pain” will be released on CD and digitally through Talheim Records on 7 November 2026.
