Ode & Elegy

About the Release

Released in 2016, Ode & Elegy gathers Vanhelga’s combination of depressive black metal, rock dynamics and melancholic directness into eleven tracks. Swedish titles and lyrics keep the music close to personal experience, while guitar melodies, abrupt changes of pace and quieter transitions prevent the album from settling into one fixed texture. Utan mening opens with an extended arc; Det som aldrig fanns and Förstörd carry its emotional weight into more compact forms. In the second half, tracks including Abstinensens dystra tongång, Disharmoni and Status – Handlingsförlamad move between self-observation, aggression and resigned calm. The instrumental Introspektion closes the album. Talheim Records released Ode & Elegy as a digipak under catalogue number TR039CD. This page documents the complete tracklist and physical edition and places the album beside Urban Negativism within Vanhelga’s Talheim catalogue context.
