About the Release

Harakiri For The Sky’s self-titled debut appeared in 2012 and established the foundations of a post-black-metal language that would later reach an international audience. M.S. combines long melodic guitar developments with harsh eruptions, while J.J.’s vocals keep the music close to despair, loss and personal memory. Lungs Filled With Water, 02:19 AM, Psychosis and From Yesterday to Ashes already show how strongly the album depends on transitions. Piano, restrained passages and open chord progressions create space before the songs return to distorted density. Drown in My Nihilism and Dancing on Debris close the original five-track sequence. The gatefold LP documented in the Talheim catalogue is a later edition, limited to 500 copies and produced in cooperation with AOP Records and Diaphora Produktion. It adds Shadowman as a vinyl-only bonus track. This page describes that historical edition rather than the later re-recorded version of the album.
