About the Release

With the self-titled debut, Ellende formed a complete album from the combination of atmospheric black metal, acoustic instrumentation and visual art that still defines the project. L.G. was responsible for lyrics, songwriting and artwork, while session musicians added drums, cello, violin and viola. The six tracks unfold as one connected path. Wind and Berge open wide, nature-oriented spaces, while the two parts of Aus der Ferne frame the album structurally. Feuer and Meer place harsh passages beside piano, strings and quiet transitions without treating those elements as separate worlds. Talheim Records released the album in 2013 as a CD digipak limited to 1,000 copies. This page documents the original edition and places it at the beginning of an early three-release Talheim period later continued by Weltennacht and Todbringer.
