About the Release

Decline to Disorder is a 17-minute EP on which Perth project The Harvest Moon connect atmospheric black metal and depressive melancholy with post-black-metal breadth and the direct tension of emotional hardcore. Rather than stretching its ideas into long soundscapes, the five-track sequence condenses them into focused movements between forceful eruptions and more open, reflective passages. No Utopia, Mind In the Machine and These Shackles examine faith in progress, social expectations and dependencies created by people themselves. The Fool Searches Till Death and Divided and at War develop those questions on personal and political levels without offering easy answers. A recurring tension between individual responsibility and collective structures gives the EP its thematic continuity. Jamie Freeman performed guitars, drums, bass and vocals. The material was recorded in September and October 2020, mixed and mastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios, with photography by Jessica Josie. Talheim Records released Decline to Disorder digitally and as a six-panel matte digipak with a fold-out poster insert on 31 March 2021 under catalogue number TR075CD.
