About the Release
The Great Depression I places three distinct approaches to depressive black metal beside one another. Psychonaut 4 open with My Despair Can’t Be Explained and Wor(l)d of Pain and Hate, followed by Happy Days with Reaching Without Consequence and Serenity the Deceiver. Dødsferd close the split with Death Has Always Been the God of Man and Million Deaths Inside. The sequence keeps the differences between the bands audible while maintaining a shared frame of despair, isolation and self-confrontation. The Talheim vinyl edition followed in 2014 as a 12-inch record at 45 RPM. Of 500 copies, 400 were pressed on red vinyl and 100 as a red-and-black splatter edition; the splatter version also included a Dødsferd shirt, a poster and patches for all three bands.
