After more than 20 years of band history, a new chapter begins for Heimdalls Wacht—and for us, this step is far more than just a collaboration. It is a conscious decision to accompany a band that has uncompromisingly built its own identity over decades.
From “Der Untergang der alten Welt” (2006) to “Mystagogie – Lieder voll Ewigkeit” (2023), Heimdalls Wacht have consistently followed their own path—far removed from trends, far removed from conformity, driven by a clear artistic vision. A development that is not measured in rapid cycles, but in depth, conviction, and expression.
Musically, this results in a sonic universe that defies simple categorization: between melancholic, melodic black metal, the energy of 80s heavy metal, the grandeur of pagan and neofolk, and the raw force of thrash and death, the band shapes its own unmistakable expression. A highly emotional, deliberately boundless approach that has always defined Heimdalls Wacht.
A central element remains the distinctive vocal dynamic: the three voices of Wiborg, Sarolf, and Saruman create a level of complexity that is unparalleled within the genre. Together with Teja on guitar and Winterheart on drums, a soundscape emerges that has grown over the years and continues to evolve.
At the conceptual core stands the figure of Heimdall—a neo-romantic, spiritual entity who awakens from a long slumber and looks upon a spiritually impoverished, materialistic world with horror. His perspective is shaped by melancholy, despair, and rage. His resistance is a tragic one—a struggle against the emptiness and alienation of modernity. Between spirituality, mythology, philosophy of nature, and the tragedy of human existence, an aesthetic counterpoint to the superficiality of mass society takes form.
For us at Talheim Records, it is precisely this attitude that matters. Heimdalls Wacht do not stand for retreat or nostalgia, but for an independent, timeless form of expression that is becoming increasingly relevant today.
While new material is already being developed in the background, it is becoming clear that the upcoming album will mark the next major step—both musically and conceptually. Together, we aim to continue this path and actively shape the next phase of the band.
