About Snøstorm

A Bulgarian-Norwegian studio partnership

Snøstorm joins Bulgarian instrumental work by Nikolay Velev with Norwegian vocals and lyrics by Atle Attila Nygård. Public descriptions summarise the project as Bulgarian metal meeting Norwegian black metal, but the exact founding story and the way the cross-border collaboration began are not yet documented in sufficient detail.

The documented division is clear even where the founding story is not: Bulgarian musician Nikolay Velev performs the instruments, while Norwegian vocalist Atle Attila Nygård supplies vocals and lyrics. This makes Snøstorm a cross-border studio collaboration rather than evidence for one local scene. Public radio listings confirm that both musicians discussed the 2023 album together, but the audio or transcript has not been recovered for citation.

Before the first full-length

The album Tales of the End appeared in 2022, alongside singles including Mellom bakkar og berg. These releases established a concise, forceful form before the project moved toward the nine-track second album.

Tales of End is publicly dated to 2022 and precedes the full-length. The surviving catalogues do not yet establish whether it was conceived as a demo, EP or independent album, nor do they explain how Velev and Nygård met. The draft therefore uses it as a chronological marker and leaves its canonical classification to the musicians.

Cold imagery without a fixed national scene

The collaboration combines tightly arranged multi-instrumental writing with a vocal and lyrical perspective rooted in Norwegian black-metal language. Into the Longest of Nights keeps songs mostly around four to six minutes, producing a more direct sequence than the extended structures common to many atmospheric projects.

The documented division of labour is concise: Bulgarian musician Nikolay Velev performed all instruments, while Norwegian vocalist Atle Attila Nygård wrote lyrics and supplied the voices. Reviews identify a melodic black-metal basis with death-metal growls, black-metal screams, occasional clean and female vocals, and changes among slow, mid-paced and fast passages. English and Norwegian lyrics reinforce the project’s cross-border construction.

Into the Longest of Nights

Into the Longest of Nights was released on 24 November 2023. The nine tracks run for about forty-one minutes, beginning with The Eternal and ending with Now Ascend. Metal Archives credits Velev with all instruments and Nygård with vocals and lyrics.

Into the Longest of Nights was released on 24 November 2023 with nine tracks and a running time of 41:01. It follows the 2022 album Tales of the End and several singles, so it should not be presented as the duo’s first public recording. The track sequence moves from The Eternal and I Am Fallen through Helvetes hjerte and A World So White to Etterlengtet and Now Ascend.

Into the Longest of Nights contains nine tracks and runs for 41:01. English and Norwegian titles share one sequence, from The Eternal and I Am Fallen through Helvetes hjerte and Etterlengtet to Now Ascend. Contemporary reception described atmospheric and melodic black metal with restrained keyboards and passages of slower weight. Those labels are critical shorthand; the secure facts are the track order and the two-person credit division.

The November 2023 edition

Talheim Records Germany issued the album as TRG018CD. The German National Library records the physical CD with a twelve-page booklet and confirms both the catalogue number and the 2023 label context.

What remains off the record

The available sources confirm the two-person international structure through the 2023 album, but not the project’s current working method or future plans. These should be addressed through the band review rather than inferred from streaming activity.
