First founded by Semgoroth and Waechter Rutan in 2006 as SEELENWINTER, the music under this banner has since then stood for raw Black Metal reduced to the essentials. Due to two other bands under this name, after the first demo release "Waldsterben" SEELENWINTER was renamed to SEELENFROST. Due to the chronic dissatisfaction with Semgoroth's drumming skills, D.F.D.E. was added as drummer after some time. In the course of the recordings for the third album "Nostalgia: Between Future and Past" a cellist joined SEELENFROST with Nostarion. After the release of the "Nostalgia" album, the band signed a contract with the Austrian label Talheim Records and worked on numerous new songs, which were divided into two albums. The first of the two works called "☽" was released in November 2014 on the 12th new moon. The second of these works was titled "Des Mondes staub" and was released at the end of March 2017. For various reasons, the band decided to retire at the end of 2019.
